SUMMARY:We Need a Savior (A One-man Musical)
DESCRIPTION:A Christmas piece that tells the story of the birth of Jesus from an African perspective. It consists of various elements from different genres beautifully knitted to convey the depth and essence of this important story\, and the earnest need for a savior in this broken and sinful world. This story is told and expressed in an uncommon theatrical medium\, hence\, a One-Man musical.\n\nSynopsis: The sinfulness of man grows strong\, they have turned away from the Almighty God\, and crimes\, injustices\, sickness\, and disaster continue to grow due to their iniquities. In this African village (the World\, symbolically) plagued by severe famines and strife\, where hope has disappeared and the heart of its people is hardened\, and no one has answers to alleviate the situation. No one to reconcile humanity back to its creator\, God.\n\nOne of the wise men in the village\, a Priest took it upon himself to plead with Olodumare (The Almighty God) for mercy. (Yorùbá Ewì – chants) He mourns for their sins and appeals to God to send a deliverer\, the promised Savior\, “Didn’t My Lord Deliver\, Daniel.” The Priest heard of the newborn baby and questioned “Who is this baby?” “What was He born to do?” and “How will he achieve His purpose?” He kneels in prayer and seeks understanding from the Almighty God as he sings\, “It’s Me\, O Lord.”\n\nIn a vision\, while the Priest slept\, he received answers to his questions that the baby King\, Jesus\, has brought good tidings of great joy to all. He was born to deliver all from their sin and reconcile them to God by taking on himself their burdens and sin\, Isaiah 53:4-6. The Priest proclaims this deliverance and invites Jesus to come\, as he sings “A Litany for Advent.” Bursting in joy\, “Gbó ohùn àwon áńgélì tí ń korin” the Priest praises God in reverence for the newborn King\, Jesus\, sang “Isaiah 9:6” and invites all to join in the worship “O Come Let Us Adore Him.” In exceeding celebration\, he sings a song of adoration “Oba Ńlá Ni\, Olúwa” (The Great King is the Lord).\n\nDuration: 60 minutes\n\nInspiration: 2chronicles 7:13-14\, Isaiah 9:1-7\, Isaiah 53:6\, Psalm 95:1-7\, Psalm 148\, Matthew 2:1-12\, Luke 2:1-14\, John 3:16\, and more.\n\nMusical ideas: A blend of Yorùbá language chants\, culture\, music\, and various Western music (African American Spirituals\, Gospel\, and Classical Music). The chants are in the Yorùbá language from the Western part of Nigeria\, while the monologues\, spoken words\, and most of the songs are in the English language.\n\nCOMPOSITIONS\n\n Yorùbá Ewì (Chant) by Erinjogunola\n “Didn’t My Lord Deliver\, Daniel” (Spiritual) Arranged by Rosamond Johnson\n “It’s Me\, O Lord” (Spiritual) Arranged by Betty Jackson\n “A Litany for Advent” (O Waly\, Waly: English Folk Melody) Arranged by Shirley W. SUMMARY:Spirit & Truth Worship Series
DESCRIPTION:In reference to the conversation of Jesus with the Samaritan woman at the Well in the Gospel of John chapter 4\, in verse 13\, Jesus said to the woman “Whosoever drink of this water\, shall not thirst again…” Then in verses 23 and 24\, Jesus said to the woman that “the hour comes and now is when the true Worshippers shall worship God in Spirit and in Truth: for the Father seek such to worship him” because “God is Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.” \nJesus is the Truth “the word that became flesh and dwelt among us\, and we beheld his glory\, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father\, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Worshiping the Father in Spirit and in Truth is the main purpose of Spirit and Truth Worship Series. It is a time to separate ourselves from the busyness of our everyday life and take a moment to worship God through songs\, without necessarily making any request from Him\, but singing of His greatness and His marvellous works\, most especially the sacrifice of His only begotten Son\, Jesus Christ for the salvation of our souls. \nYes\, we worship Him with our lifestyles in words and deeds\, through our works\, our relationship\, we also need to be the church that gathers to worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage one another “in Psalms\, Hymns\, and Spiritual songs\, singing praises in our hearts to God” as Paul admonishes us in Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:19. \n \nSpirit & Truth Worship Series includes songs from my forthcoming album\, familiar Hymns\, Psalms\, and Spiritual Songs as admonished us in Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:19. I strongly hope that you are encouraged and blessed as you join us in the worship of our Savior\, Jesus Christ. \nThe Spirit & Truth Worship Series is provided free of charge. We rely on your generous donations to continue to perform around the country. \n\nMeet Our Singer-Actors\n \nAdeniyi Samuel (Bass-Baritone) \n \nRanti Néo \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are open to partnerships and invitations from your organization\, churches\, and individuals to host the “Spirit and Truth Worship Series” at your venue. SUMMARY:Renewal Musical
DESCRIPTION:Renewal (A Two-Man Musical) Addressing Conflict in Marriage from the Perspective of the Gospel.\n\nSynopsis\n\n\nSet against the backdrop of a bustling Urban city\, Renewal (A Two-Man Musical): Addressing Conflict in Marriage from the Perspective of the Gospel of Christ – is a peep into the lives of a Christian married couple working through their marital struggles. The ebb and flow of sweet moments and crises inadvertently leads them to search for answers in God’s word.\n\nThe plot begins with fond memories on a Saturday morning of how Aduke and Adesina first met but spirals into odd conversations and attitudes betraying a performance-based love that insists on its selfish ways instead of lovingly serving one another. They gradually turn against each other as enemies that consistently disagree on many issues. Thank God for His forgiving grace\, mercy\, and love that convicted Aduke and Adesina through His Word and restored their marriage against all odds. The musical ended with the celebration of God’s grace and forgiveness extended to one another as the couple set on a new adventure with promises to align with God’s Word – inspiring them to be gracious\, humble\, understanding\, loving\, and many more towards one another.\n\nThis 90-minute production combines original music across various genres\, blending Western and African influences\, to create a moving and memorable experience for all ages. Whether married\, single\, or seeking a biblical perspective on relationships\, Renewal Musical has something meaningful to offer everyone. Past audiences have left inspired to strengthen their relationships and share the transformative message with others. Inspiration from 1 Peter 3:1-9\, Ephesians 5:21-33\, 1 Corinthians 13\, and many more\, plus influences from various interviews with Christian professional counselors/therapists.\n\nRenewal Musical is an inspiration from the Holy Spirit. The aim is to show that the marriage union is nothing without God and His word at its center. To encourage believers of Christ to use the manual (the Scriptures) the author of marriage (God) gave us to transform their marriage and not conform to the non-biblical cultural influences that break unions\, homes\, and society. It also reminds couples to speak up and seek Godly counsel\, especially in their local church assembly and with other Christian professionals.\n\nThe 90 minutes performance is followed by a 20-minute talk-back session for the audience to ask questions and give feedback.\n\nCredit\n\nAdeniyi Samuel: Playwright and Composer\nRanti Néo: Co-playwright\nAlexia Rowe: Co-playwright\nRanti Néo and Adeniyi Samuel: Performer\n\n\n\n\nWhy Renewal Musical Matters\nMarital conflicts have become a common phenomenon in our society\, even among Christians\, which goes against God’s original and perfect plan for marriage and family. This issue has far-reaching consequences\, for both the couples involved and their children\, contributing to the moral decay of our society and the world. Many members of our audience have been affected by conflicts in their families\, either as spouses or as children. \nAccording to recent studies\, almost 25% of Christian marriages end in divorce\, and this percentage is increasing\, particularly among younger believers. This figure is now comparable to the secular divorce rate. It is now more important than ever to remind our fellow believers that marriage is a sacred institution\, and it is crucial to keep God and His teachings at the center of it to ensure its success. Renewal Musical aims to show that the marriage union is nothing without God and His word at its center. \nThe musical encourages couples to be transformed by the scriptures and not conform to the non-biblical culture that promotes transactional-based love. It reminds couples to seek Godly counsel\, especially in their local church assembly and from other Christian professional resources available to them. \n\nAbout SamOye Musical Consort Inc.\nRenewal Musical is proudly produced by SamOye Musical Consort Inc.\, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education\, creativity\, and spiritual enrichment through the arts.
